..::Is This A Crime?::..
No, honestly is this a crime? I’ve been claiming that I’m also a fan of C-ute but looking at the Category Cloud in my blog, C-ute’s is currently one of the smallest cloud of all. Then, when I revised all the posts that I wrote on C-ute, I realized that most of them were about my dislike towards them, not my love. I’m feeling a lot guilty here…
I also realized that not even once I wrote a review on their single. I had done on Morning Musume’s Resonant Blue, Berryz Kobo’s Dschinghis Khan and Yuke Yuke Monkey Dance and even Perfume’s, Ongaku Gatas’ and Utada Hikaru’s, but how could I simply missed C-ute’s? I should at least make a review on Namida no Iro, their not-so-latest single (a new one is coming).

Okay, enough talk, lets get to business. Although I know this single was released months ago, I think its still not too late to write a review about it. As most of us know, Namida no Iro is C-ute’s fifth single, and so far the best single I’ve ever heard from that group. This time, the song is kinda serious and no smiles, whatsoever like LALALA Shiawase no Uta or Sakura Chirari. All of the members have those sad and disappointed expressions. Maimi as always looked hot, Erika was the same as usual, with not much of a sad face. Too bad her hat casted a little bit too much shadow on her face. Yes, Airi. I love this kind of Airi. No smiles at all. I love Chisa’s hair in this PV. She’s starting to look cool to me. Plus, with no smiles in her shots, I think this Chisa is perfect. Next is Saki. I like her clothings which is appropriate with her size. Her pants doesn’t exposed too much either. I have nothing to say about Kanna. As for Mai, her attire wasn’t suitable for the dance.
Overall, the single is great. Great vocals and great dances. The opening play of the guitar (or something that needs plucking) itself had easily caught my attention. Then, there are those clapping sounds which somehow make the song has a taste of a Latin song. I love the dances. When I think about it, C-ute didn’t had any good dances before (like Sakura Chirari and LALALA Shiawase no Uta). This song has some ‘chain reaction’ in the choreography, where the member at the front will make a short series of steps, then followed by the members behind her/them and so on. I’m kinda impress because they didn’t hit each other when doing that spinning moves simultaneously. There are also lots of close-ups, especially on Maimi. She even have close-ups of lying on the floor (oh, so gorgeous). Others have close-ups at the narrow space between two walls. These shots are the best in the PV. I love to see how the members adapt their own poses in this scene (Kanna’s was the worse. Obviously she’s uncomfortable in those shots). Chisa’s was the best, with the sunlight from behind showering her face.
On to the vocals, I’m really, really impressed with Airi’s and Saki’s. They really know how to control their voice when singing the high pitch lines. Risako can’t do that good. As always, Maimi and Airi get the most lines, Mai and Erika have some, but only a few came from Chisa, Saki and Kanna. I hope for a better line distributions in the future i.e Edo no Temari Uta II. Rumour has it that Chisa will have some lines in that single. Yatta!!!
